Independence City Hall Relocation and Renovations

Client:  SFS Architecture

Project Location:  Independence, MO

Services Provided:  Cost Estimating

The City of Independence has purchased a building in Independence, Missouri, and will renovate its interiors across all four floors to relocate most City departments, thereby increasing efficiency, accessibility, and addressing space constraints. This consolidation aims to improve efficiency for both the city and its residents by centralizing services, with over 350 employees in one location. Entrance modifications will include an exterior canopy, an exterior screen element, a new plaza, a redesigned interior layout, updated finishes, a reception area, and two customer-facing departments with service windows. The lobby’s second-floor plate will be altered to create an atrium extending to the second floor, which will feature a customer lobby and service windows. The rest of the building will largely be preserved, with some new offices, conference rooms, restrooms, storage rooms, and finish updates.

SVS delivered precise cost estimating services throughout the pre-construction project lifecycle, covering the phases of Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Document submissions. Each estimate was meticulously developed to ensure accuracy and alignment with project goals at every stage. From initial budgeting to final cost assessments, SVS’s estimates provided a reliable financial framework that adapted to design changes and equipped the client with essential information needed to proceed to the next stages of development.
