Quinault Detention Center
Client: Joseph David Associates
Project Location: Taholah, WA
Services Provided: Cost Estimating
The Quinault Indian Nation (QIN) is constructing a new 14,500-square-foot detention facility as part of its village relocation to a safer, higher elevation. The facility will feature 25 beds, including 20 cell-based beds divided into five pods arranged radially around Central Control for efficient supervision. Designed to meet modern standards and accommodate limited staffing, the facility aims to reduce recidivism, improve mental health, and ensure operational safety for both staff and detainees. Operated by the Office of Justice Services (OJS) and Indian Affairs (IA), it will provide a secure and humane environment for American Indian offenders, emphasizing public safety and justice in tribal communities.
SVS has played a crucial role in advancing this project through its detailed, multiple cost estimating services at critical stages of design, including the 40% and 99% Design Phases. These cost estimates for each phase greatly assist the owner to assess budget and overall feasibility, thus representing a $13.3M overall construction cost, well under the established budget of $16M. Their meticulous planning and commitment to precision have equipped the client with the essential information needed to proceed to the next stages of development.
