SVS and AECOM teamed together for a Value Engineering Study on a new Operations Annex Building for the USACE Wilmington District.  SVS sought out and selected the team of subject matter experts and was responsible for the project management of this Value Engineering Study.

This project will construct a new 25,000 GSF Operations Annex Building located at Fort Bragg, NC.  The project will include a caged storage area with roll up doors, multi-purpose room, testing room/classroom, secure working area with administrative areas, conference room, technical lab, collaborative space, lobby, break room, wellness room, and all necessary building systems and utility spaces.

The Value Team tackled all action items identified by the Project Delivery Team at the start of the study, including prioritizing the maintainability of the building over the aesthetic appeal, simplifying the design of the roof structure, creating future flexibility, comforting the occupants, and easing maintenance.  The Value Team developed several value improving concepts including reconfiguring the caged storage overhead doors to increase the functionality for vehicles accessing the overhead doors, creating a passageway to egress which eliminated the exterior stairway, and utilizing the masonry perimeter walls as both structure and enclosure.  Additionally, the Value Team developed multiple alternatives to facilitate execution of construction.
