The mission of Vance Air Force Base is to “Train the World’s best pilots to defend our nation. Vance AFB  Vance AFB supports flying training missions with approximately 70,000 aircraft operations annually.

In association with the Mason & Hanger Group + Mead & Hunt, Inc. Joint Venture, Strategic Value Solutions, Inc. (SVS) conducted a Value Engineering workshop on the project to rectify all current UFC deficiencies and existing waivers in accordance with the most recent Sustainment, Restoration, and Modernization requirements.

Vance AFB Runway Repair Project

Beyond the significant potential cost savings offered by the Value Team (14% of the project cost), the team also proposed several recommendations which would minimize the downtime of the runway and therefore reduce the impact to the base’s training mission.  This included an optimization of the construction phasing approach to frontload mobilization, land acquisition, and site investigation activities, and recommendation which reduced the proposed runway shoulder width which would allow the existing runway edge lighting to be maintained.
